Bikerdudeplano asks "how much time?" This has to be most amazing question given the facts. Now when has Pakistan's democracy been allowed to function for more than 10 years at a time.

1. Pakistan's first constituent assembly worked from 1947-1954 before being dismissed at the behest of the civil-military alliance. That is 7 years.

2. Civil Servants- backed by the Army- made a mockery of the country in the period 1954-1958... during which a constitution was made in 1956... which was thrown away like a used condom in 1958 by the Army. That is 4 years of army-backed bureaucratic rule and only 2 years of their own constitution.
